What happens when millions of people unite - guided by a shared, positive vision of the future? We're making "The Shift" to find out.

The Shift:

An inspirational story with a magical twist.

The Shift is a modern day story about our collective transformational process - About expanding our limited understanding of ourselves and our world - as we shift our cultural perspective from "What can I get?" To, "What can I give?"

Logline

As predicted, The Shift is in full swing. A flash of light covers the entire earth, bringing awakening to millions. Millions of others mysteriously kill themselves. Many are taught to fear this awakening, and succumb to a Government out to microchip the entire population. Our heroes, out to stop these dark, control seeking forces, learn quickly that this darkness also resides within them.

Synopisis

Ancient Prophesy tells us humanity is at the end of an era. The Shift is an inspirational science fiction thriller that tells the story... of humanities’ transformation from darkness into light.

The year is 2090. A grandmother tucks her grand daughter into bed,

“Grandma, what was it like before The Shift?”

“Hmm...” says Grandma, taking a deep breath.

‘Let me see... It was right before the Great Flash of 2012.”

As he story of The Shift begins, life, for two of our heroes, Candice and Odin, couldn’t be better. Odin’s dreams of being a famous spoken word poet are coming true. He’s in demand, going on talk shows, playing for thousands. And Candice’s beloved partner, Diane, is pregnant. It seems that both have everything they’ve ever wanted... Until....

In one mysterious, life altering moment, a flash of bright, white light hits the earth. Millions, including Odin and Candice, are thrust into a blissful state that’s described, as a mass spiritual awakening. For too many others though, the flash leads them into darkness and confusion... and they tragically, take their own lives... Including Candice’s beloved, Diane.

The government calls the flash an attack and blames off planet alien forces. A campaign urging people to be implanted with microchips to protect themselves from further attacks, scares everyone into getting chipped.

Meanwhile, Odin dreams are getting more and more vivid, and the line between his dreamtime and his waking reality starts to blur. His guide in the dreamtime, a trickster clown, shows him some painful truths about his past. Adopted at age 5 by a Seattle family - Odin’s biological family’s comes from Peru.

Unable to face these truths, Odin escapes through drugs and alcohol, and soon finds himself on a journey to Lima Peru in search of his ancestral roots. Along the way, he discovers things about his childhood that force him to come face to face with his demons, as well as with the nature of reality itself. Candice too goes through a similar transformation, and is determined to discover and reveal the truth about Diane and the suicides.

When Odin returns, he and Candice team up to become powerful bridges between the seen and unseen worlds, and they embark on a mission to help humanity make the shift.

What Your Money Will be Used For:

To set up a website to share in the process and progress of putting The Shift together, and for other artists to come together and share their own positive visions of the future. The website will bring diverse artists together to eventually co-create a web series that continues where the musical leaves off - expanding on the story, concepts, vision and characters from the live show.

To fund a preliminary tour of the west coast, from October - December, 2012. On this tour, Samara will scout potential venues for the live show and network with groups and individuals who practice community empowerment through creative expression. She will share what she learns through the Make The Shift 2012 Blog which will eventually be incorporated into the Website.

What We Hope Will Happen:

As this global shift in consciousness becomes more and more undeniable, people everywhere begin gathering together, wondering what they can do shift things in their communities, Samara's first West Coast Shift tour will share this simple message:

Humanity will make the shift in a most graceful way, when those who are open and receptive to the positive energies and messages stirring within them, will dare to express and share this without fear of repression or suppression.

There are many such people emerging who feel an urge to share the beautiful energies and messages that are coming through them, but they do not know how. Perhaps because of a lack of training or background, these people might not feel, “qualified” or “good enough” to share their inspiration with others.

On her preliminary “Make The Shift” tour, Samara will encourage these people through workshops, talks, and Radio and TV appearances, to follow their inner guidance, and, for example, if they are guided to to sing with a crystal singing bowl, but don’t consider themselves to be a singer - she will encourage them to do it anyway - every voice matters - every expression valid.

On this tour, Samara gather and build the wider community of “cultural creatives” who will join together to help make The Shift the Musical happen, and who will be further supported and encouraged by the website to influence their communities in a positive way.

Our Prayer for the World

Through the messages from The Shift and thousands of “cultural creatives,” working together to manifest a positive vision of the future, this global shift in consciousness happens easily and naturally - as if humanity suddenly realizes they’ve been stuck in a bad dream, and simply decides to change the dream.

Then, when the time is right, humanity finally awakens, refreshed and relieved to find the nightmare was not real, open to a new day with new possibilities.

The inspiration behind The Shift:

The inspiration behind The Shift began with a few questions:

What would the world look like if humans were motivated by love rather than fear?
And what can I/we do to create such a world?

And of course, these questions led to more questions:

Will we need something so dramatic and unmistakable to happen first - something that will cause us to notice that we have choice in the matter - that we can create a beautiful, harmonious world, with our beautiful and harmonious thoughts and feelings, or we can continue to create more of the same?
And, if we do need a dramatic wake up call, what might that wake up call look like?

As I meditated on these questions, The Shift took form, and these answers came to me:

“You have the power to create a beautiful world, and in fact, are creating it now with your positive thoughts. You need not do anything to create such a world, you simply have to learn to rest in your true nature and the doing will come easily and naturally. This doing does not stem from a compulsive need to do, to work, to be something or somebody. Rather it comes from an understanding that you are already that which you seek. It is simply a matter of realizing you are, right now, all the beautiful, positive, loving, peaceful, harmonious things you believe you need to work at to be, and your world has always been and always will be, a reflection of what you believe yourself to be.

With regard to the dramatic event - will you need something to wake you up? Many of you already have hit your “bottom”, as they say in AA, and thus have learned first hand that your thoughts, and the subsequent feelings and emotions around those thoughts, create suffering. Millions of you have made the decision to make the shift from fear to love as the basis from which all your actions stem. Many more might need a little boost of energy to get them motivated to change.”

What sort of boost might they need? I wondered. What will have the power enough to wake up billions of people? I kept questioning... kept pondering...

What would the world look like if human beings focused on and celebrated the power of love, harmony, and peace not only in religious settings but in school, through mass media, and entertainment? What if children were taught from a young age, that their their true nature was unlimited? What if everyone knew that life was all about understanding and celebrating this true nature as the awake and aware Self?

With all these questions rolling around in my head, one day I received a clear vision. I saw a young girl and her Grandmother, getting ready for bed. The Grandmother tucks the girl into bed, and the girl asks,

“Grandma, what was it like before The Shift?” Grandma takes a deep breath, shakes her head,

“Hmmmmm - that’s a long story... ”

“Were people really so mean all the time? Didn’t they care about each other?”

“We did... we did our best to take care of each other, much like we do now.”

“But why was everyone so mean? - like they went to war over the stupidest stuff - I don’t get it!”

“Hm... I guess we got a little lost...”

“A little?”

“Hmm..." Grandma takes a deep breath.

"Ok, let’s see... It was before the Great Flash of 2012. I was twenty nine... ”

And so the story of The Shift began.

It started out as a simple play, but soon, songs began coming, and a bigger vision for a musical took shape.

DUSTIN FOX

Dustin Miguel Fox was born in Bogotá, Colombia and raised by adopted parents on a remote island in NW Washington. Dustin opened for recording artist Jewel on her "This Way" tour in 2002. He was a participant in the Nashville New Music Conference in 2002. Dustin was a featured poet along with Robert Bly at the Mother Earth Conference. He is a vocalist and drummer for the Reggae band "Chief Baker." Rocked the mic at the Burning Word poetry festival sponsored by the Washington State Poets Society in 2004 & 2005. Growing up amongst nature, Dustin feels close to the earth and all the issues that affect it. This sense can be felt and heard in his music. As a traveler of the world he has seen many sides to life and has a very deep love for all of humanity.
